Economic incentives for gay politicians: Urbista

Colombia news - gay couple

An Urbista Senator proposed offering economic incentives to political parties who have homosexual political representatives in their ranks. The suggestion follows criticisms that the Colombian Congress needs political reform.

Senator Armando Benedetti from the Social National Unity Party, which is part of the Uribe coalition, proposed the idea in a bid to open up politics to minority groups.

Following the initiative, political parties that give homosexual parties or collectives access to politics, would receive extra campaign funding.
