Colombia, Turkey to bilaterally cut visa entry requirements

Citizens of Colombia and Turkey will be able to enter either country restriction-free and visa-free, announced Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos.

“Turkish citizens will be able to enter Colombia without any kind of restrictions, or needing a visa, and the Colombian citizens can go Turkey without any kind of restrictions, or needing a visa,” said President Santos.

The Colombian head of state made the announcement from the Turkish capital Ankara after meeting with Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul.

President Santos also announced that the two countries are aiming to conclude negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement by the beginning of 2012.

During the state visit, the two heads of state signed a memorandum of understanding and an aviation agreement.

Santos’ current presidential tour takes him to Turkey and subsequently to the United Kingdom.
