Earthquake hits southern Colombia

Colombia’s National Institute of Geology and Mining (Ingeominas) reported that an earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale shook the south Colombian department of Huila at 10:45 on Tuesday night.

The quake’s epicenter was about ten kilometers from the municipality of Acevedo. Emergency services reported that tremors were felt in the the municipalities of Guadalupe, Tarqui, Puerto Valencia, Laderas, Aranzazu, Altamira, La Argentina, Las Malvinas, Pitalito, Timana, Algeciras, San Agustin, Florencia and Puerto Rico.

There were no reports of injury or damage but emergency services have been placed on alert.
