by Cameron Sumpter November 2, 2010

Colombia news - Earthquake

An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale shook the Colombian departments of Antioquia and Santander early Tuesday afternoon, but no casualties or damage have so far been reported, according to El Espectador.

Colombia’s seismological network (RSNC) said that the quake occurred at 13:18PM and its epicenter was 5.58 kilometers from the Santander municipality of Los Santos.

The nearest large population was Bucaramanga, 35 kilometers away from the quake, which took place at a depth of 147.8 kilometers.

Colombia was last hit by an earthquake in late July, when a 5.4 shock sent tremors thought the southern and central parts of the country. No injuries were reported, with only some telecommunications services affected.
