Earthquake hits northern Colombia

An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale hit the northern Colombian department of Cordoba on Wednesday afternoon but no casualties or damage were recorded, reports Colombian media

According to the Colombia’s Institute of Geology and mining, the quake happened at exactly 3.38 on Wednesday afternoon at a depth of 30 km. Its epicenter was 11 kilometers from the town of San Pelayo.

No casualties or damage have been reported but Jose Nicolas Vega Lastre, head of the Disaster Prevention Office, said that tremors could be felt by the tallest buildings in neighbouring department of Sucre.
