Dutch guerilla talks about ‘Mono Jojoy’

Dutch FARC guerrilla Tanja Nijmeijer talks about slain guerrilla leader “Mono Jojoy” in a video released Thursday.

In the video released by online magazine Kien&Ke, Nijmeijer said that when Mono Jojoy heard that she had survived the bombing of a FARC camp on July 15, 2007, he asked her to come to his camp for lunch. There he asked her about the situation and the other people who had been present when the camp was bombed.

“He is a simple man. Since he left everything ready and prepared, we are continuing forward with our fight and we can continue forward in our fight without him,” Nijmeijer stated in the video.

Colombian ambassador to the Netherlands Francisco Jose Lloreda stated in an interview with Radio Netherlands Worldwide that “Tanja is a criminal. Tanja belongs to a criminal group which causes a lot of damage to Colombia.”

Last week the FARC released a video in which the Dutch rebel warns the Colombian government not to rescue her.

Nijmeijer joined the FARC in 2002 and is the only known Western guerrilla active in Colombia’s largest rebel group.
