Drug pigeon attempts to enter prison

A pigeon loaded down with drugs was found trying to enter a prison in the northeast Colombian city of Bucaramanga, police said Tuesday.

“Agents saw the animal attempting to cross the prison wall. When he tried again he discovered that his body was weighed down with 45 grams of marijuana. Because of this weight he could not reach his objective of entering the prison with the substance,” said Jose Mendoza, chief of police of North Santander.

The official added that pigeons have been used in the past to carry SIM cards for cell phones to inmates.
