Drug lord’s Ferrari now police patrol car

Colombia’s police converted an imprisoned drug lord’s beloved black Ferrari, a symbol of the excesses of criminal gangs, into a police patrol car, newspaper El Tiempo reported.

“The idea is to send a message to drug traffickers that all assets from the mafia pass to the state,” said the police officer in charge of the sports car’s conversion.

Former Norte del Valle drug trafficker Hernando Gomez Bustamante, alias “Rasguño,” lost his cherished Ferrari when he was extradited from Cuba to the United States, where he is currently in prison.

The Ferrari, valued at $250,000 dollars, spent the last four years stationed at the National Narcotic’s Office (DNE), before it was surrendered to the police.

Police cheerfully reported that the twenty-year-old Ferrari has less than 13,000 miles on the odometer.
