DRFE boss surrenders

Carlos Suárez, director and founder of collapsed pyramid scheme DRFE,
surrendered to authorities Thursday after having been a fugitive since
October 2008. Suárez presented himself at the Colombian embassy in São
Paulo, Brazil.

According to newspaper El Espectador, Suárez has already been in touch with the authorities of the Colombian city Pereira to be extradited.

After DRFE collapsed, Suárez fled the country reportedly to Panamá.

Since then, Colombian authorities seized over 15 billion pesos (US$7.3 million) in properties of the pyramid scheme company.

Suárez himself was put on the interpol list for wanted criminals.
