Draw revealed for Copa Mustang group phase

by Jonathan Roorda November 17, 2009

Colombia news - copa mustang

The two principal teams of Medellin, Independiente and Nacional, avoid each other in the group phase of this year’s Copa Mustang II. The draw was announced this Tuesday.

The only thing that was certain ahead of the draw was that the winners and runners-up of the first round would not share a group, making it impossible for Independiente Medellin and Bogota outfit Santa Fe to meet.

Medellin were drawn into Group A with Pereira, Atletico Junior and Real Cartagena, and should be considered favorites to advance to the final of this edition.

Group B is harder to predict, as Santa Fe are joined by Atletico Huila, Deportes Tolima and Atletico Nacional.

The group phase kicks off on Saturday, November 22nd. Pereira host Medellin, Junior receive Cartagena, Tolima visit Nacional and Santa Fe play at home against Huila.
