The Carnival of Barranquilla is just days away and the excitement is tangible, as the city prepares to put on one of it’s biggest and best shows to date. Note, however, that some important changes have been made to the weekend’s event…

Saturday’s Battle of the Flowers, a parade of traditional and carnival-style dancing and music which goes down Barranquilla’s Via 40, will be taking place a little earlier than previously scheduled – at 12:00 midday.

With this year’s festivities coinciding with the 200th anniversary of Colombian independence, visitors to the parade are encouraged to bring a white handkerchief.

The Carnival of Barranquilla will be a weekend to remember, so make sure you don’t miss out on anything, and check the event’s official website.
