‘Don Mario’ wants to be ‘Peace manager’: El Tiempo

Captured drug lord ‘Don Mario’ made the offer to Colombian authorities
to become a peace manager and demobilize 6,000 men he claims to have
under him, the newspaper El Tiempo reported Sunday.

According to the newspaper, police interrogators were surprised to hear the drug lord’s offer. He had already been kicked out of the demobilization program of the AUC, which he used to be part of, because of his continuous refusal to collaborate with authorities.

‘Don Mario’ also offered to demobilize the men working for him, claiming his organization counts 6,000 men, all former members of the AUC. Those men were kept out of the demobilization by AUC bosses Ëver ‘HH’ Veloza and ‘The Twins’ as a reserve in case the process did not go according to the wishes of the paramilitaries.
