‘Don Mario’ moved to maximum security prison

Captured drug lord ‘Don Mario‘ was to a maximum security prison in Cómbita, Boyucá Monday under heavy police surveillance. 

Daniel ‘Don Mario Rendón Herrera was captured last Wednesday in the department of Antioquia. He will stay in prison, awaiting extradition to the U.S., wherehee tried will be tried for the exportation of more than 100 tons of cocaine.

‘Don Mario’ is also believed to have ties to the FARC. His associate and a member of the 57th division of the FARC, Roque Luis ‘Mello’ Orolio León was arrested by Colombian authorities last weekend. He was charged with kidnapping, drug trafficking and arms trading.

The guerrilla leader is also wanted for extradition to the U.S.

A New York federal court accused him of the kidnapping of a U.S. citizen in April 2008.
