DMG victims want to withdraw support for re-election

A group of DMG victims and former employees asked the National Registry
to nullify their support for a held referendum that seeks the
re-election of President Álvaro Uribe.

The group of at least 300 people sent a letter to the Registry, requesting their signatures to be removed, because they feel persecuted by the President they previously wanted re-elected.

Because of the prosecution of the company for allegedly being a ponzi scheme and drug money launderer, the 320 people requesting to have their support withdrawn because the signatures “in most cases belong to us, the presumed criminals of DMG, who now oppose the re-election.”

According to a spokesman of the National Registry, it is not certain if the signatures can be removed. “There is no jurisprudence, so we have to look into it with a magnifying glass.”

Hundreds of thousands of Colombians lost their savings when the Government shut down the company and arrested its executives on money laundering and illicit enrichment charges.

So far, only a fraction of the money people invested in the company has been recovered.
