Candidate Secretary of State John Kerry found himself ridiculed by the U.S. Senate’s foreign policy commission Thursday as he was trying to say something nice about Colombia.
“Colombia is a model for the region. It is an example to the rest of Latin America about what awaits them if we can convince people to make better decisions,” said Kerry, followed by a spontaneous “muhhhhhhh!!!” that sent the entire commission to the floor laughing hysterically.
Apparently unaware of his primal grunt but visibly annoyed by the commission’s response, Kerry continued saying that “Colombia has suffered too long due to insecurity and violence…and now you made me forget what I was going to say.”
The current Senator from Massachusetts is hoping to be confirmed as successor of outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
