Deportes Tolima advance in Copa Sudamericana

by Jonathan Roorda September 22, 2010

Colombia news - sports

Colombian side Deportes Tolima are through to the third round in the Copa Sudamericana following a 2-1 aggregate victory over Oriente Petrolero of Bolivia.

The Bolivians had won the first match 1-0 at home, leaving Tolima with a difficult task in Tuesday’s return leg played in Ibague.

And the match at Manuel Murillo Toro stadium had been under way for just three minutes when Wilder Medina beat goalkeeper Fernandez to level the aggregate score.

In the 26th minute, Jorge Perlaza made it 2-0.

Both sides went a man down three minutes later as both Gustavo Bolivar of Tolima and Danilo Peinado of Oriente were sent off.

The Bolivians dominated in the second half but Tolima held on to their advantage to win the clash and advance to the third round.
