Demobilizing can be profitable for guerrillas

A fighter who surrenders to the authorities, hands in his weapon and take part in the reintegration project can receive up to 3 million Colombian pesos (US$1650), equal to half a year of Colombian minimum wage.Additional payments will be made for other equipment the fighter hands in.

  • 1 grenade: 180.000
  • heavy machine gun: 800.000
  • bullet supplier: 20.000
  • anti personnel mine: 150.000
  • detonation cord: 500 per meter
  • pistol: 500.000
  • 20kg of explosives: 150.000

If a guerrilla also reveals the location of still active members of paramilitary groups or their arms supplies he will receive more.
