Demobilized paramilitaries suspend collaboration with justice

by Adriaan Alsema November 3, 2008

Numerous demobilized members of paramilitary organization AUC refuse
further cooperation with Colombian justice, claiming the Colombian
government hasn’t kept his word about the promised benefits resulting
from the cooperation, Noticias Uno reported Monday.

The imprisoned former paramillitaries are angry with the Government about the massive transfer of demobilized to a Bogotá prison where also FARC guerrillas are held. The inmates fear for their lives being in the same space as their former arch enemies.

Demobilized in several prisons in the country have decided not to say one more word to the Justice and Peace investigators, until the government clarifies why the paramilitaries are moved and when they will benefit from their cooperation with Justice.
