Death toll of southwest Colombia bus crash raised to 10

Authorities in the southwest of Colombia raised the death toll of a bus crash in the Nariño department Wednesday to ten, among which are nine minors.

Six of the fatal victims died when the school bus fell off a 1,000-foot cliff  during a school outing in the municipality of La Cruz. Four others, including the driver, died of their injuries after they were evacuated to nearby hospitals.

Another ten children were injured in the crash.

Authorities on Wednesday evening had still not established the cause of the tragic accident, “but what is known is that the roads are in a very bad state,” the commander of the local rescue team told reporters.
