De la U withdraws request to dismiss House president

Colombia news - Partido de la U

Partido de la U, coalition party Partido de la U withdrew its request
to dismiss House president German Varon Cotrino for the selection of
the commission that has the final vote on the referendum about
re-elecing President Alvaro Uribe.

Party president Luis Carlos Restrepo had asked the Ethics Committee of the house to dismiss the anti-referendum Varon, because he would not be able to select a commission without prejudice.

Representatives of the Party were not amuzed by their leader’s action. monday El Espectador reported even that the party would ask Restrepo to resign, because he never consulted the bench about his tactics.

The party and their president now decided to cancel the request.
