Data stolen from victims support groups

The archives contained important data to help victims of paramilitaries claim reparation according to the Justice and Peace law, a law trying to demobilize paramilitaries, make them confess their crimes and help victims seek compensation for their suffering.Several organizations also received threats from Águilas Negras, a relatively new paramilitary group allegedly risen from the ranks of the AUC. In letters and pamflets the Águilas Negras warn the support groups they will “clean the streets of communist trash” and “after having caught your leaders, we are now after you”. “Surprises will come” the paramilitaries said in their latest pamflet. The NGO’s, the Colombian government and the United Nations Development Program, who backs the NGO’s in their work, recently held an emergency meeting about the thefts and threats.
