DAS shadowed magistrates extensively

Colombia’s intelligence service DAS had detailed archives on the personal and public lives of the majority of magistrates of the Supreme Court as if it was a criminal gang, a Prosecution report leaked to Noticias Uno says.

According to the online newscast, the DAS permanently had the Supreme Court under a microscope and kept records of possible weaknesses of the magistrates.

The Prosecution report reveals how one DAS investigator was assigned to monitor the private lives of the magistrates and their professional behavior.

The illegal wiretapping began when Jorge Noguera — currently investigated for paramilitary ties — was director of the agency, but continued under the leadership of his three successors, Noticias Uno reported.

The Prosecutor General’s Office is currently investigating the DAS, not only for illegally monitoring Supreme Court magistrates, but also opposition politicians and journalists.
