Colombia authorities bring down ‘cyber terrorist ring’

A multinational police operation brought down 30 alleged cyber terrorists from seven different countries, including Colombia.

The organization known as Anonymous Hacktivists sought to attack websites of government agencies and multinational companies in Colombia, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Peru and Ecuador but was thwarted by authorities of the respective countries.

Colombia’s National Police Director General Jose Leon Riaño confirmed the success of operation “Unmask” at the 81st meeting of Interpol on Monday.

According to Caracol Radio, the investigation began with an analysis of over 90 million records and culminated with 40 police raids in 15 different cities around the world.
