Cruise ships carrying 10,000 passengers dock in Cartagena

Cruise ships carrying 10,000 passengers arrived to Cartagena on Tuesday afternoon, among them the Queen Victoria cruise ship, the Norweigan Star, the Island Star and the Crystal Symphony.

El Tiempo reported that Pro-Export and the Mayor’s office decorated passengers and ship captains.

The Norweigan Star carried 2,240 passengers and 1,100 crew members while the Island Star arrived 1,798 passengers and 641 crew members . The Crystal Symphony had 940 tourists and 545 crew members aboard the ship.

Tuesday was one of the most crowded days on the docks this cruise season with 10,125 vistors arriving to Colombia’s most famous coastal city. During December, cruise ships arrived carrying 10,366 passengers.

The cruise season in Cartagena begins on October 3 and ends on June 26 and the city hopes to recieve 350,000 visitors this season aboard 142 cruise ships.

There are 23 cruise lines that count the walled city as a destination.
