Cruise season brings more tourists to Cartagena

Cruise season will be kicked off in Cartagena on Tuesday with the arrival of the Coral Princess, which will bring 1,900 tourists to the increasingly popular port city.

RCN Radio reports that over 340,000 tourists arriving by cruise boat will visit Cartagena this year, an increase of over 7% from last year.

According to Aja Cartagena, cruise tourism in the first half of 2010 is up 40% from the same period last year.

Voyages of Discovery and Royal Caribbean have both opened up new lines serving Cartagena.

The cruise season will officially open tomorrow with the arrival of 206 ships, 14 more than last year.

The season ends on May 28 2011.
