The Council of State rejects former Senator lawsuit claiming that she was unlawfully barred from holding public office for 18 years on the grounds that she had ties to the FARC, Radio Santa Fe reported Wednesday.
The presiding magistrate determined that Cordoba had not exhausted all the necessary legal avenues prior to submitting her claim to the Council.
This is the sixth attempt at reinstatement to the Senate that Cordoba has seen rejected, with the most recent denial coming from the Supreme Court last month.
Inspector General Alejandro Ordoñez, the man who dismissed Cordoba from the Senate, claimed that Cordoba’s submission to the Council included a request for over $44,000 in compensation.
Cordoba later denied this, saying it was part of a smear campaign against her by Ordoñez.
The Council of State is a body comprised of 40 magistrates in total with its primary function being the resolution of matters between non-state persons and the state, or between state agencies.
