Local lawmaker assassinated in southwest Colombia

A conservative local lawmaker from the southwest of Colombia was assassinated on Tuesday.

Councilor Campo Eduardo Colimba, a member of the Conservative Party in the southwestern Nariño state, was shot three times inside a local shop in the center of his hometown Guachacal late Tuesday evening.

At the time of the attack, Colimba was meeting with one of his sons who managed to escape the scene uninjured.

According to the police, the assassins were two men on a high cylinder motorcycle. Their identity remains unknown.

The councilor reportedly hadn’t notified any authorities of threats against him or his family.

Colimba died immediate after the attack. The authorities launched an investigation to find the suspects of the assassination.
