Cordoba supporters protest against dismissal

Some 50 supporters of Colombian Senator Piedad Cordoba on Thursday demonstrated against the inspector general’s decision to dismiss the leftist senator and bar her from holding public office for 18 years.

The protesters belonged to a number of social organizations that have spoken out against the inspector general’s ruling.

Inspector General Alejandro Ordoñez decided to dismiss the senator because he considered it proven that Cordoba “promoted and collaborated with” guerrilla group the FARC.
