Córdoba releases letters ‘Alfonso Cano’

Opposition senator Piedad Córdoba has released letters written by
supreme FARC leader ‘Alfonso Cano’, given to her by FARC guerrillas
during the release of former deputy Sigifredo López.

In one of the letters, the FARC commander thanks Córdoba, peace group ‘Colombians for Peace’, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Brazilian Government for their help in last weeks operation that allowed the FARC to release six of their hostages.

In the second letter, an announcement of the FARC secretariat, the guerrillas reiterate their desire for a humanitarian agreement and accuse the Colombian government of obstructing peace talks.
