Córdoba proposes commission to facilitate hostage release

Opposition senator Piedad Córdoba wants to form a commission to
facilitate the release of six hostages currently held by the FARC.

Córdoba wouldn’t say if the commission would consist of Colombians only after Colombian President Álvaro Uribe rejected any foreign person or government to be involved. Córdoba had earlier said she would like Venezuelan President to be involved in the operation.

Córdoba is a supporter of the Venezuelan President and was able to negotiate the release of other hostages with him early 2008.

The FARC Sunday announced it will soon release two politicians and four policemen.
