Cordoba insists FARC will release hostages

Colombian ex-Senator Piedad Cordoba on Friday insisted that the FARC will be releasing hostages.

On Twitter, the controversial politician said that “we are moving forward with the next releases!!! We have sworn to succeed and we will succeed.”

Cordoba told family members of hostages in July that the release of their loved ones was imminent. However, when she was expected to give details in August, the former Senator said nothing.

There has been no news on the release of 18 members of the security forces and an unknown number of civilians in captivity of the FARC since.

Cordoba was in Colombia to take part in a student federation meeting, but said she will leave the country again as she claims she is being threatened.
