Cordoba blames FARC-politics charges on Uribe

Senator Piedad Cordoba said Thursday that the charges brought against her for allegedly having links with the FARC are “persecution,” and that the charges “come from the presidency.”” according to El Tiempo.

“The persecution and the intent to wreck my image come from the presidency”, said the senator.

“For me there is the computer of Raul Reyes [where the alleged evidence against her was found], but there is also the decision of a group of members in this government to break and finish me ethically and politically,” Cordoba said.

Cordoba joined her legal team on Thursday to discuss the formal investigation by the Inspector General’s office into her alleged treason.

Cordoba cut short her trip in Europe last week to return to Colombia in order to face the charges against her.

Cordoba also claimed that she was followed on a trip to Costa Rica last year by four DAS agents, including former DAS director Maria del Pilar Hurtado.

Last week Cordoba claimed that she was being persecuted for a “crime of opinion.”
