by Jonathan Roorda May 25, 2009

Colombia news - Copa Mustang

Once Caldas lead Group A of the Colombian Copa Mustang group phase
following a 2-1 victory over Boyacá Chicó. Deportes Tolima and La
Equidad drew 0-0.

Caldas, Copa Libertadores winners in 2004, did conceded an opening goal from Chicó’s Ever Palacios in the 29th minute but Alexis Henriquez equalised two minutes before the break.

The winning goal came on 78 minutes as Johan Fano converted a penalty kick. Ever Palacios was sent off for protesting following Once Caldas’ second goal, but the home side lost Luís Nuñez to a red card near the final whistle.

The match between Tolima and La Equidad, played at Ibagué’s Manuel Murillo Toro stadium, ended without goals and the two teams share second place after one of six match days.

On Wednesday, La Equidad host Once Caldas in Bogotá while Tolima travel to face Chicó in Tunja.
