Herman Cordoba put Huila ahead after just seven minutes against Envigado, and Nicolas Ayr made it 2-0 in minute 23. Dorlan Pabon got one back shortly before the break but Cordoba netted his second of the day just after the interval. Jhony Acosta soon made it 3-2 but no more goals were scored in Armenia.
Deportivo Cali move into fifth place thanks to Sunday’s 3-2 win over city rivals America. Sergio Herrera put the hosts ahead on 30 minutes but Deportivo then conceded goals from Donald Millan (30th) and Gustavo Ramos (penalty, 44th).
Dubier Riascos equalised nine minutes after the break however and Juan Mariño converted a penalty in injury time.
Atletico Junior are no longer part of the top eight following a 1-0 defeat at Deportivo Pasto. The only goal of the match was scored by Carlos Hidalgo in the 77th minute.
The match round started on Saturday with a Millonarios victory at Cucuta Deportivo. The Bogota outfit scored the winning goal through Carmelo Valencia in the 39th minute.
Santa Fe jumped from fourth to second position at the expense of Independiente Medellin, whom they beat 2-1 at El Campin stadium. John Restrepo first put DIM ahead in the 42nd minute but Omar Perez levelled in minute 54 for Mario Gomez to net the winner with five minutes left.
Santa Fe’s Ricardo Villarraga had been sent off in the 20th minute, but DIM’s Juan Valencia and John Restrepo followed in the second half.
Boyaca Chico and Deportivo Pereira held each other to a goalless draw in Saturday’s remaining match, and neither side will be happy with that result.
Huila lead with 13 points from five games and have yet to suffer a defeat this season. Santa Fe, Nacional and Medellin follow with nine points each, and the top eight is completed by Deportivo Cali, Millonarios, Pasto and La Equidad.
