The Constitutional Court has appointed its new president and vice president, Magistrates Juan Carlos and Eduardo Mendoza, reported W Radio Thursday.
The new president, Magistrate Juan Carlos Henao, is a graduate of Colombia’s Universidad Externado and received a master’s degree from the University of Paris and a doctorate from the University of Pantheon-Assas Paris II.
Henao has served as assistant magistrate and delegate attorney for the State Council, and as an advisor to the prosecutor general.
The new vice president, Magistrate Eduardo Mendoza, is a graduate of the University of Atlantico, and specialized in labor rights and foreign relations at the Universidad Externado.
Magistrates of the Constitutional Court are elected for eight-year terms by the Senate. The president of Colombia, the Supreme Court and the Council of the State can each nominate three potential magistrates during their respective terms.
