Colombia’s Conservative Party will vote in favor of the 2014
re-election of President Uribe, the coalition party announced
Wednesday. Prominent conservative and possible 2010 candidate for the
presidency Carlos Holguín had called on his fellow Conservatives to
vote against.
The consession is welcome news for the Partido de la U and Alas-Equipo Colombia, who have seen the re-election of their President receive less and less support over the past few weeks.
The referendum they organized to force the re-election is under scrutiny for possible malicious funding and the popular and political support has suffered under the economic crisis after the collapse of one and the forced shut down of another pyramid scheme and the political ambitions of members and parties within the coalition made the re-election of Uribe even more uncertain.
