With seven days left before the opening of Colombia’s next congressional session, only 120 seats out of the 166-seat House of Representatives have been confirmed, while the 86-seat Senate is still waiting for confirmation, reports El Espectador.

The National Electoral Council (CNE) annulled the votes of 122 polling station in the Valle del Cauca department, with irregularities found in Cali and Buenaventura that could alter results.

This decision could have a significant impact on the allocation of Valle’s thirteen seats in the House of Representatives, plus those in the Senate.

CNE president Adelina Covo has herself come under fire for the irregularities, which she strongly rejected calling the allegations “hearsay and rumors in the media.”
