Ex-officials investigated over ‘false’ FARC demobilization

Colombia’s Comptroller General Sandra Morelli announced Thursday she will begin a preliminary investigation into former public officials for any involvement in the alleged false demobilization of the Cacica Gaitana Front of the FARC in 2006, reported RCN Radio.

Morelli told RCN that investigators are searching for signs of embezzlement or misappropriation of public funds by officials who are accused by two former guerrillas of being involved in the false surrender of the FARC front.

Army officials, presidential aid agency Social Action, and former peace commissioner Luis Carlos Restrepo will be investigated, according to the comptroller general.
