Team prepares 2nd FARC hostage release

Following the release of the first of five FARC hostages, former Senator Piedad Cordoba, Red Cross delegates and a government representative began preparing for the release of two more hostages on Friday.

According to Red Cross delegate Christophe Beney, the FARC has already given the coordinates of the location where the humanitarian commission can pick up politician Armando Acuña and marine Henry Lopez Martinez.

The Colombian armed forces will cease all military activity in the southern Caqueta department at 6PM Thursday to allow a successful release operation. The Colombian government will not carry out any military offensives in the department until midnight Friday.

The release of Acuña and Lopez Martinez is the second operation of three. On Sunday, the FARC will release two more hostages.
