Colombia’s VP placed in intensive care

Colombian Vice President Angelino Garzon was transferred to an intensive care unit in Bogota after being hospitalized last week, reported local media.

Caracol Radio reported that Garzon, who has remained in the hospital since Friday after coming in for routine tests, is thought to have suffered cerebrovascular complications.

“After some tests were performed on Angelino Garzon, we determined the need for constant monitoring and rigorous testing and therefore he will remain hospitalized in the intensive care unit for this purpose,” read a statement on the vice president’s official website.

Garzon dispelled rumors that he was mulling a run for president May 31.
