Colombia’s Santiago Giraldo defeated at Shanghai Masters

Colombian tennis player Santiago Giraldo lost in the third round Wednesday to Japan’s Kei Nishikori at the Shanghai Rolex Masters.

Before coming head-to-head with Nishikori, Giraldo was riding a wave of confidence Wednesday after upsetting the Austrian Jurgen Melzer who is ranked 20th in the world.

The victory was short-lived; however, as Nishikori defeated Giraldo 7-6 (6), 4-6, 6-3 in two hours and 38 minutes to advance to the quartferfinals.

Nishikori will now take on Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov.
