The population of Colombia will reach 46 million by next week according to DANE, the National Statistics Agency, Portafolio reported Monday.
With one Colombian child born every minute, DANE’s population counter is set to hit 46 million in the coming days. At 10:00AM local time Monday, the figure stood at 45,988,691.
In 2005 the population was 42,888,592 which means that in six years more than 3.1 million Colombians were born. DANE estimates that at the end of 2010 there were 45,508, 205 Colombians and that by 2019 the population will hit 50 million.
Dane’s estimates continue until 2020. By the end of the decade it estimates the population will be 50,912, 329 with women always slightly out numbering men.
