Colombia’s January producer prices rise 1.23% on month: DANE

Colombia’s producer prices rose 1.23% in January, boosted by prices of agriculture goods, according to figures released Thursday by the country’s national statistics department, known as DANE.

Prices of agriculture goods rose 7.33%, while prices of manufactured goods fell 5.32% while prices of goods from the mining industry rose 0.68%, DANE said.

Prices had risen 0.94% in December 2009.

Prices of imported goods fell 0.20% in January, while prices of goods produced and consumed in Colombia rose 1.56%. Prices for exported goods rose 3.55%.

The consumer price index had fallen 2.19% in 2009.

On Friday evening, DANE will publish Colombian consumer price data for January.

A Dow Jones Newswires survey of 10 analysts produced a median estimate of a 0.59% increase in the consumer price index for January.
