Colombia’s industrial output up 6.3% in May

Colombia’s industrial output rose 6.3% in May compared to the same month in 2010, the sector announced Thursday.

According to national business association ANDI, the rise was mostly due to a 51.2% rise in the production of Colombian cars. Also the production of car parts rose 30.6%.

The drinks, iron and appliances sectors did not perform well in May. They all saw their production shrink compared to last year.
