Colombia’s growth between 2 and 2.5%: ANIF

Economic growth in Colombia will be between 2 and 2.5 percent this year,
the country’s National Association of Financial Institutions (ANIF)
said Sunday.

The Government has earlier said it expected a growth of to be no less than 3 percent.

“If the United States would be growing 2%, Europe 1% and Latin America would only grow 2%, Anif believes that an economic growth in between 2% and 2.5% for Colobia would be satisfactory compared to the difficult international situation,” the Financial guild said in a statement.

“We believe that this entire scenario is a painful parenthesis for economic development, after the country believed to have been heading to a sustained growth higher than 5% between 2003 and 2007,” it added.

ANIF said it had revised its forecast for growth “because the lastest indications have deteriorated rapidly.”
