Colombia’s Falcao fronts child vaccination campaign (video)

Colombia’s Radamal Falcao has been made the face of a worldwide child vaccination campaign.

The campaign, organized by Falcao’s club Atletico Madrid and a Spanish not-for-profit bank, aims to combat infant mortality from preventable diseases in low-income countries.

The campaign’s promotional video shows Falcao saying “I arrived here because I was vaccinated against fear, I was vaccinated against pressure (…) But it would have all been for nothing had I not been given real vaccines.”

The soccer club’s president Enrique Cerezo said at the opening presentation, “This is a great challenge for the Athletico Madrid Foundation, we’re talking about giving life, hope in a sector as important as children. Health in childhood is a priority.”

Jaume Giro, executive irector of La Caixa,the financial institution running the program, said, “It gives us great satisfaction working with one of the biggest soccer clubs in European football. While we have different objectives, we share the same desire to improve the quality of life of those who are most vulnerable, children.”

Falcao is a Colombian international forward and one of the top goal-scorers in European soccer.
