by Adriaan Alsema February 10, 2010

Colombia news - Exito

Colombia’s largest retailer, Almacenes Exito SA, posted a net profit of 147 billion Colombian pesos ($75 million) last year, down 3.9% from the COP153 billion reported in 2008, the company said late Tuesday.

Operating revenue rose 18% to COP6.97 trillion in 2009 from COP5.93 trillion in 2008, the company said in a filing to the securities regulator.

Colombian largest brokerage Interbolsa had expected Exito to post a net profit of COP117 billion last year.

Exito is controlled by French retailer Casino Guichard-Perrachon SA.

Exitos’s shares trade over the counter in New York.

Exito shares Tuesday fell 0.5% to COP18,400 on the local market, while the IGBC stock index gained 1.3%. The company reported its net profit after the market closed.
