Colombia’s deputy Defense Minister resigns

Colombia’s deputy Defense Minister, Juan Carlos Pinzon, announced his resignation Tuesday.

“My work in the Ministry has already been fulfilled”, Pinzon told the Senate.

Pinzon had been former Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos’ favorite to succeed him after Santos’ resignation a few weeks ago. The post was given to Armed Forces General Freddy Padilla however.

The official will leave his office in approximately 40 days.
