Colombians trust govenment’s ability to fight corruption: NGO

Public concern over corruption in Colombia has decreased according to a report released by NGO Transparencia Internacional Wednesday.

The Global Barometer on Corruption surveyed 73,000 people in 69 countries to analyze public opinion on bribery and corruption.

The report found that Colombians think that the government’s ability to tackle corruption has increased significantly over the past year.

Colombians think political parties are the most corrupt institutions in the country, followed by Congress, public officers and the judiciary, according to the report.

They think the least corrupt institutions are the private sector and the media.

The report found Cameroon, Liberia, Sierra Leona and Uganda were perceived as the most corrupt countries and the Nordic countries the least.
