Colombians massively on the road during Easter

Colombian authorities are preparing for Easter weekend. More than 70
thousand policemen will try to make sure the exodus of nearly two
million Colombians traveling in some 600 thousand cars goes well.

Many Colombians take advantage of the long holiday to visit family or simply go on vacation. The massive and sudden displacement yearly leads to many accidents and traffic jams, because of broken down cars, speeding or the consumption of alcohol.

Colombia’s road authority warns about the state of some roads and the threats of landslides because of expected heavy rainfall.

The road between Manizales and Bogotá is blocked because of three landslides that occured Thursday. On the road between Bucaramanga and Barrancabermeja is only traffic possible on one lane on seven points.

Highway Police asked Colombians to drive safely, especially at the roads where accidents are known to occur.
